The Mae Hong Son Loop – A must do in Thailand.

During our overnight train ride into Chiang Mai, we had decided we wanted to experience the Loop.

The Loop includes the following stops – Chiang Mai > Pai > Mae Hong Son > Kayan Village > Chiang Mai.

If you are really interested in my actually itinerary, this is what I did…

We took an overnight train from Bangkok to Chiang Mai. It took about 12 hours in a sleeper cabin and I slept like a baby.

After a night in Chiang Mai, we took a detour into the hills of Chiang Mai.

We got back to Chiang Mai and an hour later took an evening mini-bus to Pai.

In the morning, we took another mini-bus to Mae Hong Son. The trip from Pai to Mae Hong Son included 1864 curves. This explained why Jae threw up.

We walked to the town center from the bus depot and found a tour company. It was now time for the Kayan Village.

After spending the day with the Kayans, we spent a couple hours in Mae Hong Son waiting for our bus back to Chiang Mai.

This completed the once famous but almost forgotten Mae Hong Son Loop.

Chiang Mai > Pai > Mae Hong Son > Kayan Village > Mae Hong Son > Chiang Mai then off to Bangkok via a first class bus to catch our flight to Myanmar.
